Josè
Porcel
He is born in Seville, and at the age of thirteen
starts dancing
Andalusian folklore and flamenco in the Andalusian Cultural Houses of
Valencia. He begins to study dance at the age of sixteen with the maestro
Martín Vargas. He moves to Madrid and continues his studies with Paco
Romero, Isabel Quintero, Cristóbal Reyes, Pedro Azorín and José Granero.
In 1989 he debuts as a professional in the “Ballet de Valencia”, directed by
Martín Vargas, dancing as a soloist in the company the following year.
In 1991 he choreographs the flamenco show “Te
traigo al sur,
Miguel” directed by the flamenco specialist Federico Torres,
in the Principal Theater of Alicante.
In 1992 he directs and dances with his
flamenco
company in the Universal Exposition in Seville.
In 1993, he goes on tour to America with
the
Clara Romana Company, with the show “Carmina Burriana”.
In 1994, He enters the Ballet Nacional de
España where
he performs shows like: “Medea”, “Ritmos”, “Bolero de Ravel”,
“El Sombrero de tres picos”, “Danza y tronio”, “Los Tarantos”, “
Fantasia Galaica”, “Grito”, “Poeta” and different flamenco ballets.
In 1997 takes place the premiere of his
show
AEntrañas Flamencas@ in the flamenco festival of
the “Palacio de la Música de Valencia”. During his period
in the National Ballet, he works with famous maestros
like José Granero, Victoria Eugenia, Juanjo Linares,
Currillo, Manolo Marín, Javier de la Torre, Antonio Canales,
Pedro Azorín. Within the National Ballet, he interprets as a
soloist “Los Tarantos” as picaos, “Medea” as man of Medea,
“Grito” in Soleá (flamenco). He interprets as leading dancer
in the National Ballet “Farruca” (flamenco)
and “Danza y tronío” in layers.
In December 1999, he dances as a soloist
in the
Company of Rafael Aguilar, interpreting Torero in “Carmen”
in an important tour in Germany and Switzerland.
In 2000 he dances as a soloist with the
Philharmonic
of Los Angeles in Hollywood, directed by the maestro
Héctor Zaraspe. On that same year, he is taken as leading
dancer in the company of Antonio Márquez acting, among
other important stages, in the Opera of Paris.
Toward the end of 2001 José Porcel starts
his own
Flamenco Ballet, with the show “ZINCALÍ”. A show based in the
deepest roots of flamenco, where he works with prestigious
choreographers like Antonio Canales, Israel Galván,
Beatriz Martín, Domingo Ortega, Isabel Bayón,
Currillo y Fernando Romero.
In 2002 he tours in Japan and, as guest
performer,
choreographs and dances with the famous
ballerina Lola Greco in a tribute to José Greco.
2003 José Porcel has created his new show
“PIES EN LA TIERRA”,
which has premiered in the month of April in the renowned
International Festival “MADRID EN DANZA”, in its XVIII edition. |
