Tosca
Tosca, first performed in Rome
in 1900, is Puccini’s sizzling drama
of love, death-defying loyalty and
villainous deceit. The fiery singer,
Floria Tosca, and her lover,
the painter Mario Cavaradossi,
are caught in a web of intrigue
manipulated by the lecherous,
evil desires of the Chief of
Police, Baron Scarpia. Puccini’s
score shows him in his most
dramatic mood, with
spectacular melodies and
beautiful, impassioned arias. |
